As part of the ongoing preventive campaign against drug trafficking and criminal elements, Jalandhar Rural Police, under the guidance of Senior Superintendent of Police Harvinder Singh Virk and Sarabjit Rai (Superintendent of Police Investigation), conducted several anti-drug operations in various police stations.
SSP Jalandhar Rural Harvinder Singh Virk while giving information said that on May 1 a team of Jalandhar Rural was checking vehicles by blocking the village Amanatpur Morh when during the blockade, a young man came from Biddhipur railway gate on a black Splendor motorcycle without a number plate, who had covered his face with a yellow cloth. He was wearing a black shirt and jeans.
And who had a kit bag hanging behind his back. When the police party became suspicious and signaled the motorcyclist to stop, instead of stopping, the said person fired at the police party and drove his motorcycle towards Maqsudan, upon which the police party started chasing the person who fired and immediately informed the Police Control Room Jalandhar and other senior officers.
The person who fired took his motorcycle from Maqsudan Road towards village Suran Helra Road and went about two and a half kilometers ahead and turned inside the uninhabited glucose factory on his right hand side at village Suran. Due to the speed of the meter cycle, his motorcycle slipped outside the gate of the glucose factory.
When the police party stopped the vehicle and opened the window to get down, he fired a single shot at the police party’s official Scorpio vehicle with the intention of killing him. It hit the left side window of the vehicle and his pistol fell from his hand.
The person left the motorcycle and the fallen pistol and went inside the factory along with the kit bag. The police party surrounded the person from all sides and captured him during the encounter.
The captured person gave his name as Sajan Nayyar, son of Vijay Nayyar, resident of House No. 3794, Mohalla Chhota Haripura, Islamabad, Police Station Islamabad, District Amritsar. He fired 03 shots with the intention of killing the police party and to intimidate the police party, from which a total of 03 pistols and 17 rounds were recovered alive.
The police party fired 02 shots in self-defense. The arrested person Sajan Nayyar has attacked the police party with the intention of killing them, obstructing the work of the police and keeping illegal weapons in his possession.
A case No. 81 dated 01.05.2025 Crime 109,132,221 BNS, 25(1)(A)(6), (7), (8)-54-59 Arms Act Police Station Maqsudan Jalandhar Rural Police has been registered against him. The accused Sajan Nayyar has been admitted to the Civil Hospital Jalandhar for treatment where he is undergoing treatment.
A total of 20 cases have been registered against the dangerous accused Sajan Nayyar in different districts regarding murder, attempt to murder, dacoity, robbery, gang-related drugs and supply of dangerous illegal weapons.
After being discharged from treatment, he will be arrested and taken into police remand for in-depth questioning to find out where the dangerous weapons came from, what crimes he committed with them, and what other crimes he intended to commit.
