Punjab’s Leader of Opposition (LoP) and senior Congress leader, Partap Singh Bajwa, will now join the police investigation on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, concerning his controversial remarks about “50 grenades” entering Punjab. The Punjab Police have registered an FIR against Bajwa for allegedly spreading misinformation that could jeopardize national security and unity.

The FIR, filed at the Cyber Crime Police Station in Mohali, stems from Bajwa’s claims, aired on a private news channel, that 50 grenades had infiltrated Punjab, with 18 already used in blasts and 32 remaining at large.

Originally summoned to record his statement on Monday, April 14, 2025, Bajwa’s lawyer, Pardeep Singh Virk, informed the police that he required a day’s delay, which was granted. He would now be joining the investigation on Tuesday at 2.00PM.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, in a video message, challenged Bajwa’s claims, demanding he reveal his source of information or face legal action. Mann asserted that neither state nor central intelligence agencies had any corroborating information.

Subsequently, AIG Counter Intelligence Ravjot Kaur Grewal visited Bajwa’s Chandigarh residence to question him, but reported that he provided no useful information.
