Senior Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader and Bathinda MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal has called for a central probe into recent attempts to destabilize peace in Punjab and instigate communal violence by targeting statues of Babsaheb B R Ambedkar as well as temples.
Talking on this subject in parliament, Mrs Harsimrat Badal said it was condemnable that the statues of Babasaheb Ambedkar had been targeted three times in the last three months but the Aam Aadmi Party government had failed to either protect them or ensure exemplary punishment for the perpetrators.
Asserting that this was being done under a design, Mrs Badal said a bomb was hurled at the Thakurdwara in Amritsar indicating that a wider conspiracy was at work to create a communal divide in the State.
Mrs Badal said it was unfortunate that even after the banned organization – Sikhs for Justice had claimed responsibility for the attacks on the statues of Babasaheb the AAP government had failed to bring the perpetrators to book.
“In this context a central probe is needed to identify the culprits behind these heinous incidents as well as expose those behind them so that they are put to a stop immediately”. EOM
