Youth will take Congress, Amarinder to task for reneging on promises made to them: Harsimrat Badal

Bathinda, April 17, 2019 (Yes Punjab News)

Union food processing industry minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal today said the youth would take the Congress party and chief minister Capt Amarinder to task for reneging on the ‘ghar ghar naukari’ and unemployment allowance promise made to them.

“The Congress and the chief minister cannot fool the youth any longer with fudged figures of employment. The latest figures of the Centre for Research in Rural and Industrial Development (CRRID) reveals that unemployment has increased in Punjab in the last two years with more than 22 lakh youth being unemployed”, said Mrs Badal in a press release here.

The Bathinda mp said the figures were an eye opener for everyone and now the chief minister should explain why he had backstabbed the youth and reneged on the promises made to them. “With what face will you go the youth to ask for their votes?” Mrs Badal asked the CM, adding “your government’s inability to add more jobs has further worsened the effects of the farming crisis which has gripped Punjab after you promised farmers a complete loan waiver and went back on your word”.

Mrs Badal said things had come to such a state that like farmers the youth were also losing hope. “The life of 23 year old Harmandeep was snuffed out two days back when he decided to commit suicide after failing to get any employment despite being a post graduate. Harmandeep was also the youngest Panch of his village – Teuna Pujari. Capt Amarinder Singh is solely responsible for this loss. He must explain why he lied and deceived the youth when he did not have any intention to give them gainful employment”.

The Union minister said even now the Congress party was trying to indulge in a cover up operation by stating that they had given some jobs in the private sector. “This is a complete lie. The government tried to act like a placement agency by holding job melas. This exercise has also been a complete failure. The Congress government’s credibility is so low that the youth are shunning the ‘sarkari’ job melas”.

Mrs Badal said besides failing to create jobs the government did not offer the promised unemployment allowance of Rs 2,500 per month to even one unemployed youth. She said forget giving anything the government had reduced the salaries of contractual teachers from Rs 45,000 per month to Rs 15,000 per month. “The government has not lifted a finger to regularize 27,000 youth on contractual service whose case for regular employment was cleared after passing a bill to this regard in a special session of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha”.

Stating that lies would not work any longer, Mrs Badal said youth were approaching her in scores and relating how they had been cheated by the Congress government.”Many have shown me enrollment cards which were given to them by the Congress party in 2017. Around 15 lakh such cards were distributed to the youth by the Congress promising them jobs as soon as a Congress government was formed in the State. Now these youth are waiting to teach the Congress party a befitting lesson in the forthcoming elections”, Mrs Badal added.
