1st Surjit 5-A-Side Women Hockey Gold Cup Tournament: RCF Kapurthala, Haryana XI, NR Delhi register victories

Rail Coach Factory Kapurthala defeated Punjab XI by 6-3, Haryana XI defeated Union Bank of India Mumbai by 5-3, Northern Railway Delhi defeated SAI Sonipat by 4-3, CRPF Delhi defeated Central Railway Mumbai.

5-3, Rail Coach Factory Kapurthala defeated SAI Sonipat 5-4 and Union Bank of India defeated CRPF Delhi 6-5 to make a winning start in the first Surjit 5A Side Women’s Gold Cup Hockey Tournament.

This tournament, being organized by Surjit Hockey Society at local Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium, was inaugurated by NRI,  sports promoter and transporter Ranjit Singh Tutt. On this occasion, he was specially honored by Surjit Hockey Society.

In the first match, Rail Coach Factory Kapurthala and Punjab XI performed brilliantly in Pool A. Both the teams were tied at 1-1 at half time. After that, Rail Coach Factory won the match 6-3 and secured three points in the league round.

For RCF, Eswariya scored the first hat-trick of the tournament by scoring three goals while for Punjab, Sukhveer Kaur scored two goals.

In the second match, Pool B, Haryana XI defeated Union Bank of India Mumbai 5-3 and earned three points. At half time both the teams were tied at 2-2. Usha scored two goals for Haryana and Jeevan Kishori scored two goals for Union Bank.

In the third match of Pool A, Northern Railway and SAI Sonipat 4-3 after a tough competition and secured three points.

At half time both the teams were tied at 1-1. Northern Railway’s Shilpi Diwas scored two goals and SAI Sonipat’s captain Dimple scored two goals.

In the fourth match, in Pool B, CRPF Delhi defeated Central Railway Mumbai 5-3 and scored three points.

Supriya Mundu of CRPF scored her second hat-trick of the tournament while Lalrutfaili of Central Railway Mumbai scored two goals.

In the fifth match, in Pool A, Rail Coach Factory Kapurthala defeated SAI Sonipat 5-4 and got its second win in the tournament and collected a total of 6 points in its account.

Anjali Gautam scored two goals from Rail Coach Factory while Dimple scored two goals from SAI Sonipat. SAI Sonipat played two league matches and lost both the matches.

In the sixth match, in Pool B, Union Bank of India Mumbai defeated CRPF Delhi by a margin of 6-5, registering its first win in the league round and securing three points.

At the inauguration of the tournament, Lakhvinder Pal Singh Khaira, Olympian Rajinder Singh, Rajbir Kaur, Praveen Gupta, Narinderpal Singh Judge, Ranbir Singh Rana Tutt, LR Nayyar, Gaurav Aggarwal, Natha Singh Gakhal, Iqbal Singh Sandhu, Surinder Singh Bhapa, Rajinder Singh Retired. SSP was specially present.
