The 1st North East Gatka Training Camp – 2026 was successfully organised from 11th April to 18th April 2026 at Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Imphal (Manipur) by the wonderful efforts of the Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Imphal, Manipur.
Despite challenging circumstances, including a prevailing curfew situation, the camp witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 50 dedicated players, reflecting the growing interest in the traditional Sikh martial art, Gatka, across the North East region.
The training camp served as a significant step toward the promotion and development of Gatka in the region, providing structured training, discipline, and cultural awareness among the youth.
Key Dignitary Messages:
S. Gurnam Singh (President, GPC) lauded the efforts of the organisers for their commitment to promoting Sikh martial arts across India. He assured continued and full support to further strengthen and expand Gatka activities throughout the entire North East region.
Smt. Charanjeet Kaur (Member, GPC) encouraged young participants to actively engage in learning Gatka and praised their dedication. She also played a vital role in managing the camp arrangements and ensuring smooth coordination of all activities.
On the auspicious occasion of Vaisakhi, Shri Yumnam Khemchand Singh (Hon’ble Chief Minister of Manipur) visited the Gurdwara Sahib and appreciated the initiative taken by the Gatka team. He commended the efforts to promote this traditional martial art in the state and assured full support from the state government for its future growth.
National Gatka Promoter, S. Simranjit Singh, personally reached Imphal and conducted intensive training sessions for all participants free of cost, demonstrating exceptional dedication to the cause. His efforts, along with his team, were highly appreciated by the committee and participants alike.
The successful execution of this training camp marks a historic milestone in introducing and strengthening Gatka in the North East, paving the way for future initiatives and wider participation.
