District Administration on Wednesday started the demolition process at the Adampur market to provide the already acquired land to the Public Works Department (central works) under the Jalandhar-Hoshiarpur four-laning project.
Divulging more, the Competent Authority of Land Acquisition (CALA) cum SDM Jalandhar-1 Dr. Jai Inder Singh said that the award for the acquired land announced in 2016, however, a few landowners didn’t receive their compensation amount despite repeated requests.
The SDM further mentioned that the authorities started demolition action against those who didn’t leave the possession even after receiving their compensation, and provided land to the PWD (central works) for further work.
The SDM said that those landowners who had still not received their awards were apprised of demolition action as per the rules besides asking them to collect their compensation cheques at the earliest.
He said that every single inch of the acquired land would be taken over by the administration with the police help thus paving the way for construction under the said project by providing land to the PWD (central works).
