Will take up issue of demolition of Guru Ravi Dass Mandir with Centre: Sukhbir Badal

Chandigarh, August 12, 2019 (Yes Punjab News)

Shiromani Akali Dal President S. Sukhbir Singh Badal condemned demolition and vandalism of the historic Shri Guru Ravidass Temple by Delhi Development Authority at Tughlakabad Delhi and said that Shiromani Akali Dal is ready to help restore the legal case as well as re-build the historic Temple at party’s expenses. Citing that the Baani of Shri Guru Ravi Dass ji is inextricable part of Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji, he said that Shiromani Akali Dal will not tolerate Beadbi to religious Gurus and will take up the matter with the Government of India.

It is a matter of faith of millions of followers of Shri Guru Ravidass ji in and outside Punjab, he said. Shiromani Akali at this hour firmly stands with the followers of Shri Guru Ravidass ji and SAD President vowed to resolve the issue at the earliest by taking up the matter with Hon’ble Home Minister Shri Amit Shahji.

S. Badal expressed anguish and astonishment to know that the historic temple for which land was donated by the then ruler Sikandar Lodhi and revenue records reveal that the land belongs to the community, was vandalized, and not only that temple was demolished but the idol of Shri Ravidass ji was forcibly removed in order to acquire the land and the head priest was detained. Shri Badal said that it seems the local committee managing the Temple could not be adequately represented in the Court.

A delegation comprising Shri Pawan Kumar Tinu, MLA, Dy. Leader Vidhan Sabha, Dr. Sukhwinder Kumar Sukhi, MLA, Shri Baldev Singh Khaira, MLA, Shri Satpal Mall, Shri Surjeet Beeta, Shri Dharmpal Lesariwal, Shri Gurnam Singh, Shri Joginder Ram Lodhipur and Vinod Kumar Neeta.
