Mouni Roy has firmly established herself as an actress who will never say no to a role that gives her the space to perform.
And she has proven herself with pivotal roles in films like her Bollywood debut Gold and then as the evil Junoon from Brahmastra. All set to return to the big screen with The Bhootnii where she plays the titular part whose name is Mohabbat, Mouni will be seen facing off with Sanjay Dutt, who plays a ghostbuster in the movie.
For those wondering why the actress is doing a role similar to what she’s done earlier on the small screen and the big screen, the reason why we feel the film will click with the audience, is because of the exact same reason – Mouni and her supremacy over supernatural characters and the finesse with which she approaches them, making them relatable and also visually appealing with her presence, at the same time.
Mouni’s portrayal of the Ichchadari Naagin Shivanya and Shivangi in Naagin season 1 and 2, catapulted her to a whole new level of fame and recognition.
She then played the villain Junoon in Brahmastra. While her role as the ghost Mohabbat in her upcoming release makes it her third supernatural character in her career, she has proven a fact – that she can offer variety in the roles that she plays. Nothing about her supernatural characters carry the same characteristics and there is always a DIFFFERENCE!
The Bhootnii is yet another movie in the long list of films that are from the trending horror-rom-com genre! Mouni has already talked about how the fantasy-fiction genre serves as a form of escapism.
Not to mention, there is a huge relatability factor that will work in the favour of the film – India is a country with incredible tales of folklore surrounding mystical and mythical characters.
And personal beliefs aside, everybody loves themselves a dose of fiction, don’t they? Mouni Roy will be seen sharing screen space with the legendary Sanjay Dutt, along with Sunny Singh, Palak Tiwari, Aasif Khan and BeYouNick in the thriller, that had garnered some great reviews after its trailer was launched. The Bhootnii releases on April 18.
Post this movie, Mouni Roy has Salakaar, with director Faruk Kabir in the pipeline. Her role is this film is being speculated to be a very promising one that sees the actress, entrepreneur and fashionista in a never-seen-before avatar!
