Former Education Minister and MLA Shri Pargat Singh emphasized that alongside paying floral tributes to *Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s* statue, we must also honor his ideology and the ideals of the Constitution he gifted to the nation. *Dr. Ambedkar granted us both the Constitution and the right to vote,* yet we are failing to safeguard that Constitution or prevent theft of votes.
Pargat Singh said that on the occasion of Dr. Ambedkar’s 69th death anniversary, people across the country are offering garlands to his statues and portraits, but after the ceremonies and photographs, his ideals and teachings are often forgotten.
He stated that Dr. Ambedkar gave us everything, and if democracy exists in India today, it is because of his vision. To truly protect democracy, all political parties and leaders must rise above partisan politics and unite to defend the Constitution Dr. Ambedkar gave us, while also fighting to protect the *sanctity of our vote — the backbone of democracy.
