Former President Donald Trump has issued a dire warning, asserting that the world is on the brink of World War III, primarily due to the unchecked growth of nuclear weapons.
Speaking at a town hall event in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Trump emphasized that global conflict could only be avoided under his leadership.
“We’re heading into World War III territory,” Trump declared on Wednesday, pointing to the increasing threat posed by nuclear and other advanced weapons. He expressed disdain for the need to update the U.S. atomic arsenal but stressed its importance in maintaining global stability.
Trump Claims He Can Prevent Global Conflict
Trump stated, “You need a president who’s not going to take you into war. We won’t have World War III when I’m elected. But with the people in power now, it’s almost inevitable.” He also referred to ongoing global conflicts like the war in Ukraine, the Gaza conflict, and the October 7 Hamas attack on Israel, insisting these events would never have happened if he had remained president.
Quoting Hungary’s Prime Minister
Trump supported his claims by quoting Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, a figure often criticized by liberals as authoritarian. “Orban said, ‘Everybody was afraid of Trump. Bring him back, and all these problems will go away.’ The world is blowing up,” Trump remarked.
Expertise in Nuclear Weapons
The former president claimed to have an unparalleled understanding of nuclear weapons, noting, “I know these weapons better than anybody because I’m the one who bought them.” Trump also shared his reluctance to upgrade the nuclear program, saying it was a necessary but distasteful task.
Pennsylvania: A Crucial Battleground
With the 2024 presidential elections approaching, Pennsylvania remains a key battleground state. Polls show Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris running neck-and-neck, each with 47.2 percent of the vote, according to RealClear Politics. Both parties are campaigning aggressively in the state, with Trump criticizing Harris’s policies, particularly on fracking and illegal immigration.
Early Voting Begins Soon
Pennsylvania voters can begin early voting on September 16, ahead of the November 5 election. Trump and Harris are scheduled for a debate in five days, which will likely be their only face-off. Trump also criticized ABC, the debate’s host, calling it “the worst network” and questioning its fairness due to Harris’s connection with Disney Entertainment co-chair Dana Walden.
