Tomar’s statement asking farmers to give logical objections against Agri-laws irrational: Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa

Chandigarh, June 10, 2021 (Yes Punjab News)
While giving a strong reaction to the latest statement given by Union Agriculture Minister, Sh. Narendra Tomar, Shiromani Akali Dal (Sanyukat) President and Rajya Sabha Member, Sh. Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa said that so far 11 rounds of meetings have been held between the farmers’ organizations and the government.

“Every time while making the negotiations, the farmers’ organizations have always put forward logical arguments as they object to the agricultural laws but the government while intentionally ignoring these legitimate arguments have always deliberately refused their demand to repeal the black laws and is delaying the matter unnecessarily,” said Sh. Dhindsa.

Sh. Dhindsa said that the farmers’ organizations had already apprised the government of the fundamental shortcomings in the laws and in such a scenario it was unreasonable for Union Agriculture Minister, Sh. Narendra Tomar to ask the farmers to come up with a solid logical argument before coming for another dialogue with the Government.

He said that the concern of the farmers towards new agriculture laws was justified as these black laws would end the procurement and MSP system in the so-called mandis and the farmers would be left at the mercy of big corporates.

He said that many previous meetings of the government-held with the farmers’ organizations had turned out to be futile and it was clear that after the last meeting held on January 22, farmers’ organizations had offered to negotiate with the government to resolve the issue but no positive response came from the Central Government, which hints towards the fact that the government is no mood to repeal these black laws and is deliberately trying to complicate matters further.

Sh. Dhindsa once again appealed to the Union Government to reconduct another meeting with the farmers who are peacefully agitating for a long time on the borders of Delhi can return to their homes safely.
