Talwara & Bhadson Nagar Panchayat Elections, bye-polls of 18 Wards across Punjab on June 21

The State Election Commissioner, Punjab, Mr. Jagpal Singh Sandhu here today announced the schedule for the elections of 2 Nagar Panchayat Talwara and Bhadson and bye elections for 18 wards of Municipal Corporations/Municipal Councils/Nagar Panchayats. With the announcement of the schedule, the ‘Model Code of Conduct’ has come into force immediately in the revenue jurisdiction of these Municipal Corporations, Nagar Panchayats and Municipal Councils. The Code of Conduct would be in force till the completion of the electoral process.

Divulging further, Mr. Jagpal Singh Sandhu said that the notification and process of filing the nominations would commence on 4th June, 2019 and 11 june 2019, would be the last date for filing the nominations. The nominations would be scrutinized on 12th June 2019, while the date for withdrawal of the nominations would be 13th June 2019 which would also be the date for allotting the election symbols to the candidates. The voting would be held on 21st June 2019 from 8 AM till 4 PM. Counting of votes would be held after completion of voting process on same day.

Mr. Sandhu also said that the voter lists for these elections had been updated with qualifing date of 01.01.2019. He further said bye elections would be held at the ward number 50 and 71 of Municipal Corporation Amritsar, ward number 30 of Municipal Corporation Bathinda, ward number 30 and 35 of Municipal Corporation Phagwara, ward number 20 Municipal Corporation Moga, ward number 4 of Nagar Council Urmar Tanda, ward Number 23 of Nagar Council, Sangrur, ward Number 6 of Nagar Council, Dhuri, ward Number 29 of Nagar Council, Malerkotla, ward number 2 of Nagar Council,Dhariwal, ward number 4 of Nagar Council, Doraha, ward number 18 of Nagar Council,Budhlada, ward number 2 and 11 of Nagar Council, Dhilwan, ward number 8 of Nagar Council, Ferozepur, ward number 22 of Nagar Council, Abohar and ward number 6 of Nagar Panchayat, Lohian Khas.
