Suspected Coronavirus patient from Mohali has reported negative: Balbir Singh Sidhu

In a major relief, medical tests of suspected Mohali Corona Virus patient admitted in PGI yesterday has reported negative.

Conforming this here today, the Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu informed that National Institute of Virology (NIV) Pune, to whom PGI had forwarded patient’s test samples has confirmed in negative, the Minister further said adding there is no case of Corona virus in the state.

A patient having history of transit stay at China airport belonging to Hoshiarpur had reported and she has been examined by doctors and she has been kept under home isolation.

He said that to keep a watch on Atari Border and Dera Baba Nanak, Gurdaspur, Medical posts have been stationed at both the sites. He said that these dedicated Medical check post are also been doing awareness activities among people who travel from Pakistan and are sensitizing them to submit self declaration regarding any travel history to China and having symptoms of virus.

The Minister further said that 3 flights had been schedule for today at Amritsar Airport and only one flight landed till 4 pm. He said that 186 passengers were screened by the Medical teams and no one was found symptomatic and teams are ready to screen incoming flights. Similarly at Mohali Airport, only one flight landed today, all the 186 passengers had been screened by the Health department.

Mr. Balbir Singh Sidhu informed that total 17 passengers having history of travel to China had been kept under the observation and health teams are keeping a watch on these persons. He said that teams of doctors and paramedical staff have been put on round the clock duties in a wake of emerging threat of Corona virus.

He said that the Helpline number 104 has been activated for information regarding Corona Virus. Any citizen can contact on this number 24X7 for any information related to the Corona Virus disease.

The Minister appealed that any person who has travelled to China and has arrived in India from January, 1st 2020 should report to nearest Government Hospital or call at helpline number of 104 so that Department of Health could trace and take necessary remedial measures.
