Coming down heavy on the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) leaders who have openly come in support of corrupt and tainted official like suspended DSP Balwinder Singh Sekhon, the Congress leaders today addressed a press conference and said that it has exposed the real face of the BJP as well as its leaders.
They alleged that the suspended DSP as well as BJP leader Kamal Chatley have a single point agenda of having a negative approach towards any person who wants to carry out development of Ludhiana. They said that it is due to same reason that Kamal Chatley stood distant third when he had contested the last assembly election from Ludhiana (West) constituency.
The Congress leaders who addressed the press conference in support of Cabinet Minister and Ludhiana (West) MLA Bharat Bhushan Ashu included District Congress Committee (Urban) President Ashwani Sharma, Councillors Sunny Bhalla, Baljinder Singh Bunty, Pankaj Kaka, Dilraj Singh, senior congress leaders Sunil Kapoor, Deepak Raja, besides several others.
On this occasion, they even issued photographs of Kamal Chatley and Balwinder Singh Sekhon sharing drinks at a public place.
While addressing the press conference, Ashwani Sharma stated that its sad that people like Kamal Chatley, who claim themselves to be leaders of the public, have come out openly in support of tainted and corrupt official like DSP Balwinder Singh Sekhon.
“This clearly shows that the suspended DSP was taking directions from his bosses in BJP merely to defame Bharat Bhushan Ashu, who is known for his pro-development agenda,” alleged Sharma.
He said that it is a known fact that both Kamal Chatley and Balwinder Singh Sekhon are close friends and meet over drinks very often. “Kamal Chatley has zero contribution towards the ongoing development in the city and maybe that is why, people rejected him so badly in last assembly elections, that he stood a distant third.
Maybe Chatley is unable to digest his loss and is patronising corrupt officials such as Balwinder Singh Sekhon,” alleged Ashwani Sharma.
MC Councillor Sunny Bhalla alleged that DSP Balwinder Singh Sekhon is not new to controversies. “He has several FIR’s regarding printing of counterfeit currency notes, misappropriation of public funds, accepting bribe besides many more registered against him. And it is not for the first time that he has been suspended, as earlier he was intact dismissed from his post.
He even had close links with a former BJP state president and was a co-accused in an FIR registered against that BJP leader’s personal assistant in Ferozepur. This clearly shows that DSP Balwinder Singh Sekhon is working on behest of BJP leaders and is a mere pawn in their hands,” he alleged.
Councillor Baljinder Singh Bunty demanded that Balwinder Singh Sekhon should clarify regarding all FIR’s registered against him. He alleged that everyone knows that DSP Sekhon had even misbehaved with a city resident over a parking issue and the video regarding the same had even went viral on social media. “Chatley’s stand in support of a tainted official raises questions over his own credibility,” said Bunty.
Senior Congress leader Sunil Kapoor said that several persons had filed complaints against DSP Balwinder Singh Sekhon and Bharat Bhushan Ashu being a grounded leader who has always stood for the people and when he questioned Sekhon about his wrongdoings, he recorded the phone call, which is against the rules.
He also questioned the timing at which the recording of some other issue was leaked to the media. “The recording was almost two years old and was released merely to settle score with Bharat Bhushan Ashu, who has zero tolerance towards corruption,” he alleged.
