Daaman Bajwa, a Punjab Congress leader, who unsuccessfully contested Sunam elections on Congress ticket in 2017, has filed complaints with Punjab DGP Dinkar Gupta and Sangrur SSP Viveksheel Soni to get investigated some calls made to her by some unidentified person faking as Prashant Kishor.
Prashant Kishor, the political strategist, who handled the 2017 general elections of Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh in 2017 has been re-engaged for the same job for the elections due in 2022.
In her complaint to the DGP, Daaman said that she was called by someone ‘faking’ as Prashant Kishor. The person who called said that they have got a survey conducted in her constituency i.e. Sunam and she has been found lacking as her performance was not up to the mark and it would be difficult for her to get a party ticket for elections due in 2022.
The person on the call then asked her that despite that if she wanted to contest on a Congress ticket, she should immediately drop Rs.7 lakh in Jalandhar.
The Congress leader said that she was earlier also not convinced by the behavior of the caller as he was indulging in some loose talk but when he demanded money, she became sure that the caller was trying to play fraud on her.
Daaman, then took his seniors in the loop and after being sure that this was a fraud, called on the numbers of fraudulent person, but he didn’t respond to her calls, and ultimately the phone was switched off.
Apprehending that this is a gang trying to defraud political leaders and aspirants of Congress tickets in Punjab, Daaman has requested the DGP and the SSP to do the needful as the imposters could have managed to tarnish the reputation of her party.
