Sikh author and writer Rupinder Singh on Friday presented his book documenting the heritage and history of 51 gurdwaras to Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami at the Information Centre of Sri Darbar Sahib.
Dhami honoured Rupinder Singh with a siropa and a golden model of Sri Darbar Sahib on the occasion.
Speaking at the event, Dhami said the book records the history of 51 gurdwaras and also features paintings created by noted artist Allan Koshida. He appreciated Rupinder Singh’s efforts to document Sikh heritage and said the author had previously published eight books.
Dhami congratulated the author and expressed hope that he would continue contributing to Sikh literature and the preservation of the community’s historical heritage.
Rupinder Singh thanked the SGPC president for the honour and said Sikh history was deeply connected with gurdwaras, which provide important knowledge about Sikh principles and heritage.
He said the book was intended to be useful for the Sikh sangat by providing information about the historical significance and heritage associated with the 51 gurdwaras.
Those present on the occasion included OSD Satbir Singh, personal secretary to the SGPC president Shahbaz Singh, assistant secretary Harbhajan Singh Vakta, Sri Darbar Sahib manager Major Singh, superintendent Nishan Singh, additional manager Yuvraj Singh, information officer Amritpal Singh, Randhir Singh, Jatinder Singh and members of Rupinder Singh’s family.
