Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab’s Senior Leader and Leader of Opposition Harpal Singh Cheema congratulated Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President Navjot Singh Sidhu on becoming the Chairman of Punjab Congress Election Committee and advised that, it would be better for him (Sidhu) not to say anything on the issue of Mafia and tainted ministers now, because like Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, he’d be surrounded by the same tainted and corrupt former ministers who had been removed from Channi’s cabinet when Congress government was claiming and pretending to be pure.
In a statement issued from the party headquarters on Tuesday, Harpal Singh Cheema said that today Navjot Singh Sidhu, Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi and Gandhi family have to make it clear to the people of Punjab that why the former ministers Balbir Singh Sidhu, Sadhu Singh Dharamsot, Sunder Sham Arora and Gurpreet Singh Kangar was removed from the Cabinet? The people of Punjab also want to know what kind of penitence these former Congress ministers have paid that got them included in the Pradesh Election Committee headed by Navjot Singh Sidhu.
Harpal Singh Cheema directly questioned Navjot Singh Sidhu that whether Balbir Singh Sidhu has gotten a clean chit from the infamous Gaushala’s multi crore land scam in Mohali. Will Navjot Singh Sidhu tell that how did Sadhu Singh Dharamsot (then minister), who ruined the future of millions of poor but deserving students of SC category, get his sins of the multi-crore scholarship scam washed away?
Instead of sending Dharamsot to jail, Navjot Singh Sidhu would sit with him just like Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi sits with the very symbols of sand mafia, liquor mafia, mandi mafia and land mafia; Rana Gurjeet Singh, Bharat Bhushan Ashu, Sukh Sarkaria etc.
Will Navjot Singh Sidhu tell the people of Punjab that who gave the ‘Corruption Free Certificate’ to the then Industries and Commerce Minister Sundar Sham Arora who was facing allegations of corruption worth billions of rupees just three months ago and Rana Gurmeet Singh Sodhi who got repeatedly compensated on his land?
Cheema scoffed at Navjot Singh Sidhu’s previous announcement that ‘there will either be mafia in Punjab or Navjot Singh Sidhu’ saying that before talking about the whole Punjab he (Navjot Sidhu) should first decide for his own election committee and asked “will he sit with those tainted and mafia patrons now?”
Harpal Singh Cheema said that just as Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi had become the butt of jokes in Punjab due to his hollow announcements, Navjot Singh Sidhu too, had lost his credibility with idle threats to his own government. Cheema said that like other Congressmen, Navjot Singh Sidhu is also a power hungry politician and his actions do not match his words.
