Shekhar Kapur glad about WAVES’ addition to IFFI

August 9, 2024 (Yes Punjab News)

Veteran filmmaker Shekhar Kapur, who was recently appointed as the festival director for the 55th and 56th editions of the International Film Festival of India, Goa (IFFI), announced that the film festival is adding WAVES (World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit), which he described as a “confluence between emerging media and technology”. He emphasised that AI is going to be a “big vertical” in it.

Kapur, who aims to position IFFI as a global hub for both traditional cinema and cutting-edge content technology, said WAVES also aims to encourage investments in India’s tech sector. The 55th edition of IFFI is scheduled to take place from November 20 onwards. It will conclude on November 28.

At present, Kapur is prepping for his upcoming release, titled ‘Masoom… The Next Generation’, which explores the idea of what is home. “‘Masoom’ is the way of going back to just making the stories of the simplicity of being human and the complexity of being human but staying human and the story being human,” Kapur had previously said in an interview. The film will mark the acting debut of his daughter Kaveri Kapur.
