The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has decided to preserve precious historic treasury and relics at the Toshakhana (treasury house) of Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib by conducting their videography and photography.

Also, the residential complex of the granthi Singhs of Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib would be constructed in front of the Atta Mandi entrance, instead of the upper rooms in parikarma of Sri Darbar Sahib. The decision was taken at a meeting of the executive committee (EC) chaired by SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur here on Friday.

While talking to media after the EC meeting, SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur said, “The historical relics and treasury of Jalau (grandeur) decorated at Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib on the occasion of Gurpurbs, which are preserved in Toshakhana will be documented and preserved for future by videography and photography. Apart from this the Toshakhana would also be renovated and equipped with modern technology.”

Bibi Jagir Kaur said, “The EC has also decided to construct special residential quarters for head granthi and granthi Singhs of Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib, outside the parikarma. For this, the space in front of Atta Mandi side entrance will be used.”

Bibi Jagir Kaur said that soon a store of generic medicines would be opened near the Information Centre outside Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib so that the needy and poor people could get medicines at a cost price.

For future, firm rule has been made that any employee found guilty of an immoral act or drug addiction will not be spared. Such an employee has no right to remain in the gurdwara management.”
