SGPC starts protest against police entry, firing in Gurdwara Akal Bunga at Sultanpur Lodhi

The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) and the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today started a joint protest against the disrespect and shooting by the police at Gurdwara Akal Bunga Sahib Chhauni Nihang Singhan in the recent past at Sultanpur Lodhi.

In the protest started outside Gurdwara Sri Akal Bunga Sahib at Sultanpur Lodhi, the speaker severely criticized the Punjab government led by Chief Minister (CM) Bhagwant Mann and said that by desecrating the holy Sikh shrine, the government has hurt Sikh sentiments. Today, on the first day, a jatha led by Baljit Singh Jalalusma, SGPC member from Baba Bakala Sahib constituency participated in the protest against the Aam Aadmi Party-led government of Punjab.

On this occasion, former general secretary of SGPC Bhai Gurcharan Singh Grewal, member Bhai Manjit Singh, Baljit Singh Jalalusma, Jarnail Singh Dogranwala, Bibi Gurpreet Kaur Ruhi, constituency in-charge Captain Harminder Singh while speaking said that the Congress had carried out an atrocious act of attack on shrines in 1984. Today, the government of Punjab is also following the same path.

They said CM Bhagwant Mann had issued an order to the police and had done a painful act of disrespect at Gurdwara Akal Bunga Sahib Chhauni Nihung Singhan, which hurt the sentiments of the Sikh Sangat. The peak of the anti-Sikh phenomenon is that the CM ignored the Sikh resentment and did not even open his mouth after the attack by police. Talking about intensifying this protest during the next day, the speakers said that CM Mann would have to take responsibility for disrespect inside the Gurdwara Sahib.

On this occasion, SGPC additional secretary Tajinder Singh Padda, manager Jarnail Singh, Mohan Singh Kang Baba Bakala, Nirmal Singh, Ranjit Singh Seron, Rajinder Singh Lidhar, Kirpal Singh, Balwinder Singh Cheema Bath, Gurjinder Singh Sathyala, Major Singh, Sarabjit Singh, Gurdev Singh, Bakhshish Singh Baba Bakala, Gurcharan Singh, Dilbag Singh, Karam Singh and others were present.
