SGPC Rejects its Resolution Demanding Excommunication of Narain Singh Chaura from Panth

The Executive Committee of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee Tuesday rejected its resolution of an earlier meeting of December 9, in which a demand was made to Sri Akal Takht Sahib to excommunicate Narain Singh Chaura from the Panth.

The December 9 Resolution was rejected today in a meeting of the Executive held under the Chairmanship of SGPC Chief Harjinder Singh Dhami.

Chaura, a known radical figure, attacked Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal and tried to fire shots towards Sukhbir Badal but was overpowered by Security Personnel and the two shots fired missed the target.

Sukhbir Singh Badal, when attacked, was performing ‘Sewa’ as a guard outside Darshani Deori of Sri Darbar Sahib Amritsar. He was declared Tankhayiya and was directed by the five Jathedars to undergo ‘punishment’ and perform sewa.

In an emergent meeting called after the attack, the Executive Committee on December 9 had passed a resolution requesting Akal Takht to excommunicate Chaura from the Panth.

Those present in the EC meeting included, SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, senior vice president Raghujit Singh Virk, junior vice president Baldev Singh Kalyan, general secretary Sher Singh Mandwala, EC members Bibi Harjinder Kaur, Amrik Singh Vichhoa, Surjit Singh Tugalwal, Paramjit Singh Khalsa, Surjit Singh Garhi, Baldev Singh Qaimpur, Daljit Singh Bhinder,

Sukhharpreet Singh Rode, Ravinder Singh Khalsa, Jaswant Singh Purain and Paramjit Singh Raipur, chief secretary Kulwant Singh Mannan, OSD Satbir Singh Dhami, secretary Partap Singh, additional secretary Sukhminder Singh,

Gurinder Singh Mathrewal, personal secretary Shahbaz Singh, assistant secretary Gurnam Singh, Balwinder Singh Khairabad, Harbhajan Singh Vakta, legal advisor Amanbir Singh Siali, and executive engineer Jatinderpal Singh.
