Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami today joined the ‘Panjab University Bachao’ Morcha being held by students at Panjab University Chandigarh and announced full support to the gathering being held by the Morcha on November 10.
Advocate Dhami said that Panjab University Chandigarh is our heritage, which has played a big role in the development of culture and Punjabi language. He said that the specialty of this university has been that its senate and syndicate are elected from different regions through a democratic process.
He said that the government wants to completely subjugate it by secretly eliminating its traditions, which is injustice to Punjab.
The SGPC will continue to represent the rights and interests of Punjab in this matter and will also cooperate at every level in the struggle. He said that the SGPC will participate fully in the gathering on November 10 and necessary arrangements will also be made. He said that this is a matter of the rights of Punjab, towards which it is the responsibility of every Punjabi and organization to join this struggle.
The SGPC President said that the SGPC had also passed a resolution in its general session recently against this injustice of the government and demanded an immediate stop to such actions. He said that student organizations are struggling against this injustice, which they fully support and will continue to do.
Advocate Dhami appealed to the people of Punjab and political parties to come forward to save the heritage of Panjab University Chandigarh and be a part of the struggle being waged by the students.
On this occasion, SGPC interim member Bibi Harjinder Kaur, member S. Ajmer Singh Khera, S. Charanjit Singh Kalewal, Secretary Eng. Sukhminder Singh, Deputy Secretary S. Lakhbir Singh, Akali leader S. Sandeep Singh Sikri and Manager of Gurdwara Bagh Shaheedan Chandigarh S.
