SGPC officials condemn attack on Adv Harjinder Singh Dhami

Amritsar, January 19, 2023 (Yes Punjab News)
The officials of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) today strongly condemned the attack on SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami by some persons, when he was returning after participating in Qaumi Insaf Morcha in Mohali yesterday.

In a meeting of officials held here presided over by SGPC secretary Partap Singh, they termed the attack on SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami as unfortunate and appealed to Jathedar of Akal Takht Sahib to intervene.

Secretary Partap Singh said the President of SGPC being the leader of a representative Sikh organisation, does not belong to any one party, but he is common to the entire community. He has also personally rendered notable legal services by pursuing the cases of those Sikh who went to jails during the Panthic struggle and is currently working continuously for the release of Bandi Singhs (Sikh prisoners) even as president of the representative Sikh body.

He said those who attacked such a Panthic personality have tried to weaken the ongoing struggle for the release of Sikh prisoners, which is strongly condemned by all the employees of SGPC. Partap Singh said that the demand for the release of Sikh prisoners is of the entire community and not of any one party.

“Therefore, those who oppose the supporters of this struggle are not against a person, but the struggle. The organisers of Qaumi Insaf Morcha should identify the persons who attacked SGPC President and take action”, said Partap Singh.

He added that the officials of SGPC have also appealed to Jathedar of Akal Takht Sahib to conduct an investigation into this incident at his own level, so that people who are undermining the Panthic unity can be identified.
