The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) expressed strong objection to ‘Emergency’ film made by BJP MP Kangana Ranaut and the SGPC President wrote a letter to Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Bhagwant Mann asking him to completely ban the film in Punjab.
This film is being released tomorrow on January 17, 2025. In a letter written to the Punjab CM by SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, it has been said that the SGPC, while expressing its protest regarding this film, has already registered objections by sending letter no. 22211 dated November 14, 2024 to the Chief Secretary of the Punjab Government and SGPC executive committee resolution no. 798 dated September 28, 2024, through which it was clearly stated that ‘Emergency film will not be allowed to be screened in Punjab’, because this film has been made in a conspiratorial manner with the aim of defaming Sikhs.
Through the resolution, a demand was made from the state government to ban the release of this film in Punjab. Advocate Dhami said that it is unfortunate that the Punjab government has not taken any step to stop the film till now. He said that if this film is released on January 17, 2025, then it is natural that this will create anger and resentment in the Sikh world.
It is noteworthy that in this film suppresses the 1984 deadly attack on the holy shrine of Sikhs, Sri Harmandar Sahib, Sri Akal Takht Sahib and many other places, Sikh massacre and genocide and the anti-Sikh agenda has been worked with the spirit of spewing venom against the community.
Along with this, the character assassination of the community’s martyr, Sant Jarnail Singh Khalsa Bhindranwale, has also been done in the film.
The SGPC President said that Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency film should be immediately stopped from being released in Punjab on January 17, 2025. If this film is released in Punjab, the SGPC will strongly oppose it at the state-level.
Meanwhile, on the orders of SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami, today the SGPC Secretary Partap Singh and other officials submitted a letter to the Deputy Commissioner of Amritsar demanding a ban on Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency in Amritsar.
Apart from this, the SGPC has also given demand letters to all the Deputy Commissioners at the district level in Punjab to stop the film. While submitting the demand letter to the DC Amritsar, Secretary Partap Singh was accompanied by manager of Darbar Sahib Manager Bhagwant Singh Dhangera, assistant secretary Harbhajan Singh Vakta and superintendent Nishan Singh.
