SGPC demands action against officials who demolished langar hall and houses of Sikhs in Moradabad

Amritsar, June 9, 2022 (Yes Punjab News)
Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee President Advocate S. Harjinder Singh has written a letter to Uttar Pradesh (UP) Chief Minister (CM) Yogi Adityanath for doing justice in the case of demolition of langar (community kitchen) hall and houses of some Sikhs by administration in Gagan Manoharpur village near Moradabad.

SGPC President demanded that strict action should be taken against the administrative officials and employees who demolished the houses of Sikhs and the ruination of Sikhs be stopped.

S. Harjinder Singh told UP CM that the Sikhs who are settled at Gagan Manoharpur village since 1973 are being deliberately ruined, therefore, action should be taken against the accused people and compensation be given to the victim families.

Notably, after this matter came to the light, SGPC had marked a probe through its Sikh Mission at Hapur, UP, and its report revealed that the village panchayat had given the concerned land to a person namely S. Ganga Singh in 1973, whose family still lives there. These Sikhs also developed a Gurdwara Sahib in the village besides a langar hall, where every day, a large number of people had free food. However, the administration while demolishing the langar hall also demolished the houses of some Sikh families.

SGPC President Advocate S. Harjinder Singh this forcible action will not be tolerated and appealed to UP CM Yogi Adityanath to intervene in this matter.

“The ruination of Sikhs living there for more than 50 years is not justified and the UP government should stop the excesses being committed on its citizens”, said S. Harjinder Singh.
