The meeting of sub-committee was held at Gurdwara Sri Kalgidhar Niwas, Chandigarh, which was presided over by SGPC senior vice-president S. Raghujit Singh, and those who were present included SGPC junior vice-president Principal Surinder Singh, general secretary S. Karnail Singh, additional secretary S. About the sub-committee meeting, SGPC general secretary S. Karnail Singh said that different members stressed upon the need to take up a joint struggle to resolve the issue of Gurdwara Gyan Godri Sahib, in place of their independent efforts.

“To resolve this issue, there is a need to move forward with unity and accordingly, Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib Giani Harpreet Singh should form a joint committee under the leadership of SGPC”, said S. Karnail Singh.

S. Karnail Singh added that the efforts made independently by different organisations, committees of Gurdwara Sahibs, sampradas, and individuals to hold talks with the governments and bureaucracy are appreciable, but a united struggle will prove to be more fruitful.

He added that the sub-committee formed by SGPC President to discuss this issue has so far held two meetings and as per the united opinion, an appeal has been made to Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib to form a joint committee under the leadership of SGPC.

S. Karnail Singh said, “The joint committee which will be formed by Sri Akal Takht Sahib will put forward the aspect of the Sikh Panth before the concerned governments and it will also work out the strategy for any action as required from time to time.”
