Seminar on ‘Guru Nanak : Parampara, Samkal tey Vishav Drishti’ under Dera Baba Nanak Utsav

“Sri Kartarpur Sahib Corridor would connect hearts and would also strengthen the bonds of mutual friendship thus giving the message of Peace and amity to the coming generations.”

These views were expressed here today by the Chairman Punjab Kala Parishad PadamShri Surjit Patar on the occasion of a seminar on ‘Guru Nanak : Parampara, Samkal Atey Vishav Drishti’ held as part of the 550th Prakash Purb celebrations of Sahib Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji at Dera Baba Nanak Utsav on the eve of opening of Sri Kartarpur Sahib Corridor.

Dr. Patar also said that Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji stressing on One Akal Purkh emphasized the importance of nature in ‘Bani’. Guru Sahib uplifted the poor and downtrodden sections of society besides making a mention of the social conditions of those times. He also exhorted people to stand by the truth in all circumstances.

In his address, Vice Chancellor of Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana Mr. Baldev Singh Dhillon said that the same superstitions which were so opposed by Guru Sahib, are again strengthening their stranglehold on the society now a days.

This calls for spreading more awareness about the philosophy of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji and giving positive direction to the society. He also said that the most important thing is to spend life in accordance with the principles of Gurbani.

Addressing the seminar, Dr. Rattan Singh Jaggi said that it is the need of the hour to eradicate the social inequalities and create a society conducive to human dignity. He also divulged that Guru Sahib raised his voice in favour of women’s rights and this needs to be raised awareness about in a big manner today.

Professor Kapil Kapoor underlined importance of music and said that any word through the music leaves a deep impression on human mind thus Guru Sahib composed Bani in different Ragas.

On the occasion, Ustad Mujtaba Hussain and his companions lent a spiritual colour to the atmosphere with their soulful musical presentations. A kavi durbar organized on the occasion saw the likes of Davinder Saifi, Darshan Buttar, Jagwinder Jodha, Lakhwinder Johal, Biba Balwant, Rashpal Singh, Swami Antarnirav, Ambrish, Anup Virk, Amarjit Kaunke, Sushil Dosanjh and Gul Chauhan recited their creations.

Among other dignitaries present on the occasion included Dr. Atamjit Singh, Dr. Jagmeet Singh, Manmohan, Sadiq Ali, Subodh Sarkar, Dr. Harbhajan Singh, Sachin Ketkar, Jaswant Zafar, Praduman Shah, and Deepak Manmohan Singh.
