Scholarship Scam: AAP stages protest against Punjab Minister Dharamsot

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab staged a protest in Nabha against Minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot for embezzling crores of rupees in post-matric scholarships of Dalit students and burnt his effigy; demanding dismissal from the Punjab Cabinet.

Addressing the party leaders and volunteers at Nabha, AAP’s state general secretary Harchand Singh Barsat said Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh’s ally, cabinet minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot had embezzled crores of post-matric scholarship funds and had ruined the future of lakhs of Dalit students; but the Chief Minister was not taking any action against this corrupt minister.

He said the scholarship scam was so important that the CBI was investigating the scam; but the Captain government was not cooperating with the central agency. Barsat said the Aam Aadmi Party’s struggle would continue till the corrupt minister Dharamsot was sacked.

Party’s Nabha constituency incharge, Gurdev Singh Dev Mann said the Congress government was a bunch of scammers whose minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot had robbed the rights of poor students.

He said on formation of the AAP government, Dharamsot would be put behind bars. The AAP leaders and volunteers protesting massively against Sadhu Singh Dharamsot, burnt his effigy near the old post office.

Party’s Patiala district rural president Megh Chand Shermajra and district urban president Tejinder Mehta said the Aam Aadmi Party demands from the Captain government to cooperate in the CBI probe against Sadhu Singh Dharamsot.

“Strict action should be taken against Dharamsot and he should be dismissed from the Cabinet and sent to jail,” they added. The leaders said if the Congress government does not take action against Sadhu Singh Dharamsot, then Dharamsot will lead to the downfall of the Congress in 2022.

On the occasion, state joint secretary Inderjit Singh Sandhu, Samana constituency incharge Chetan Singh Jodmajra, Dr Jaswant Kapoor, Veerpal Kaur Chahal, Virinder Bittu, Jagjit Kaur Jawanda, Kundan Gogia, Kulwant Bazigar, Sandeep Bandhu, Baldev Singh Devigarh, Swaranjit Singh Doda, Deep Ramgarh, Rana Nabha, Gurpreet Gopi, Sukh Ghumman, Kuldeep Ramgarh, Lalit Kumar Mintu, Manpreet Dharoki, Tajinder Khaira, Vicky Bhadso, Davinder Kalara, Ashok Arora, Jagwinder Poonia, Tarnvir Khanora, Bikker Khanora, Subedar Santokh Singh, Tirath Saholi, Balgarh Saholi, Gurlal Faizgarh, Raju Jassomajra, Parminder Lali, Som Chaswal, Gurdhian Rajpura, Happy Booga, Gurpreet Kalsana, Manpreet Kalia, Gurdeep Kaur Kalramajri, Mohan Singh Sergill, Joga Singh Mahesh, Baba Kulwant Singh, Gaggi Banera, Saranjit Chika, Sandeep Sharma, Mushtaq Khan, Sandeep Kaur and Ramandeep Kaur Dhiman along with a large number of party volunteers were present.
