Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) SAS Nagar Deepak Pareek reiterated that the Punjab Police is committed to protecting the life and property of the people and has been working day and night for that purpose.
People need not worry but they should cooperate with the Police in identifying the bad elements in society, he said, while interacting with the media here after conducting the checking of the District Court Complex here.
He said that not only the District Court complex, thorough checking of all the courts in Sub Divisions have also been done in the district. The SSP said that as per the directions of DGP Punjab, Sh Gaurav Yadav, a search operation has been conducted to ensure the presence of Punjab Police.
He said that the motive of the search operation was to ensure the safety and security of the Judicial Officers and the general public visiting the court complex. The teams have also checked the unauthorised access to the complex.
During the checking of the court complex, a large number of police personnel including the dog squad, and bomb disposal squads were deployed to accomplish the exercise.
Meanwhile, the security devices (metal detectors) placed on the roads of the court complex were also inspected and the manual metal detectors were also checked to ensure that they are functioning.
Along with this, the vehicles parked at the complex were also investigated. He further said that in view of the Independence Day celebrations, while the checking campaign will be intensified, steps will also be taken to tighten the security of the common places having heavy footfall.
He directed the officers and employees of the district police to perform their duty with full diligence and said that any kind of laxity in duty would not be tolerated. DSP Harsimran Singh Ball along with police personnel were also present during the checking of the District Court Complex.
