Sarbat Da Bhala Charitable Trust has donated 48 dialysis kits to the Kidney Disease Department of Civil Hospital, Amritsar, to support patients undergoing free dialysis at the government hospital.
AAP MLA from Amritsar South and former Cabinet Minister Dr Inderbir Singh Nijjar handed over the kits to senior hospital doctors on behalf of trust chairman Dr S.P. Singh Oberoi.
Dr Nijjar said the requirement for dialysis kits had been brought to Dr Oberoi’s notice after it was pointed out that a large number of economically weaker patients undergo dialysis at Civil Hospital, where the treatment is provided free of cost.
Responding to the request, Dr Oberoi arranged 48 dialysis kits through the trust’s Amritsar district unit. He has also assured the hospital that additional material required for the treatment of patients will be provided as needed.
Dr Nijjar appreciated Dr Oberoi and the trust’s teams for their continued social and humanitarian services.
Senior Medical Officers Dr Preetveen Kaur and Dr Rajnish Kumar thanked Dr Oberoi and Dr Nijjar for the donation. They said patients at Civil Hospital receive free treatment under the Ayushman Bharat scheme and the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana. They added that the hospital also receives patients who are not voters in Punjab, making arrangements for free dialysis kits necessary for such cases.
The medical officers appealed to people to make use of the free healthcare facilities available at Civil Hospital and other government hospitals.
Sarbat Da Bhala Trust state president Sukhjinder Singh Her, adviser Sukhdeep Singh Sidhu, district president Sishpal Singh Laddi, finance head Navjit Singh Ghai, Jagdev Singh Chhina, Manpreet Singh Amritsar and Yuvraj Singh were also present.
