Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal today said the SAD stood like a rock with senior party leaders Vardev Singh Mann and Nardev Singh Mann who had been jailed in false cases by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government and said those responsible for this persecution would face the law once the SAD formed the government in 2027.
Addressing a public gathering here during the course of which he appealed to the people to vote for SAD candidates in the Block Samiti and Zila Parishad elections, the SAD president said “let us send a clear message that political persecution and vendetta will not be tolerated in Punjab. Let us join hands to support the SAD which alone is committed to fighting for the rights of Punjab and Punjabis and has a proven track record of development”.
He also announced that Mr Vardev Mann would be made a minister in next SAD government to ensure speedy development of the constituency which had been ignored by successive Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) governments. He also remembered the stellar work done by Late S Zora Singh Mann as MP as well as the latter’s close association with S Parkash Singh Badal.
Mr Sukhbir Badal also spoke on how successive Congress chief ministers had betrayed Punjab during the last sixty years. Asserting that Congress chief ministers had only looted the State, be asked people to tell one thing Giani Zail Singh, Darbara Singh, Beant Singh and Capt Amarinder Singh had done for the State.
Asserting that the tenure of Bhagwant Mann was even worse, the SAD president said in sharp contrast S Parkash Singh Badal during his 22 years in power had established thermal plants, Universities, cancer institutes and world class memorials besides giving free power to farmers and introducing novel social welfare initiatives like old age pension, Shagun and Aata Dal scheme.
“I want to ask you, of everything has been made by the SAD then why are we indulging in experiments. Let us save Punjab by reaffirming faith in the SAD”.
Stating that the SAD truly believed in ‘Raj nahi Sewa’, Mr Badal said Badal Sahab had always remained among the people and had removed their grievances on the spot through Sangat Darshan programmes.
“All development happened in the State during SAD tenures in government. If not for the SAD farmers would not have had the free power facility and people would not have enjoyed the benefit of novel social welfare schemes like old age pension, shagan and aata – daal”.
He said in direct contrast all development and social welfare schemes had come to a halt and the chief minister was spending Rs 1,000 crore annually just to paste his photo across the State.
