The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today condemned the Congress government for making the mockery of poor and underprivileged sections of the society with arbitrarily removing the names of genuine blue card holders and replacing them with the names of fake beneficiaries especially those having allegiance to the congress party.
In a statement here, SAD Sainik Wing president S. Gurjinder Singh Sidhu said that the immediately after assuming the power, the Congress government started raising fingers over the genuine strength of blue card holders in the state which was around 36 Lakh.
“In the name of removing the fake beneficiaries from the blue card list, it had cut down their strength to almost 49 percent and declared the remaining names as genuine beneficiaries. However it has added almost the same number of beneficiaries into the new list, expanding its strength to 34.6 Lakhs,” he added.
Slamming the Congress government for making a way for Congress-supporter’s entry into the blue card list at the cost of genuine beneficiaries, SAD leader said, the state government’s vote-bank politics was causing unprecedented pain and agony to those poor who are being denied the benefits of the central and state welfare schemes.
“The poor and needy were left to fend on their own with removing of their names from blue card holder’s list.
They are unable to get the central food material sent to state as a relief by the central government in such testing times,” he said, adding that state government should show some sensitivity towards sufferings of the poor and ensure them the delivery of central food material immediately.
Sharing the fate of around 7000 people from Barnala, whose names have been removed from blue card list arbitrarily updated by the Congressmen, S. Sidhu asked the concerned authorities to explain that whether they would get the central relief including wheat and daal after their names being struck from the list?
“These people are running from pillar to post to get their blue cards revoked as they were in dire need of help in the wake of the pandemic situation,” he said adding that state government should immediately incorporate their names in the new blue card holder’s list so they could get the benefits of the state and centre sponsored welfare schemes.
