Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) – Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) joint Jalandhar parliamentary candidate Dr Sukhwinder Singh Sukhi today said the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had betrayed both its purported ideals – Shaheed Bhagat Singh and Baba Saheb Bhim Rao Ambedkar in just one year in office & could not be trusted any longer.
Dr Sukhwinder Sukhi also condemned the heinous act of sacrilege which occurred at Morinda today, asserting it was a brazen attempt to deflect attention from the utter failures of the AAP government on all fronts. He demanded a judicial probe into the incident to unmask the conspiracy behind the same.
Addressing election meetings in Kartarpur constituency, Dr Sukhwinder Sukhi said the AAP government had insulted the great martyr Shaheed Bhagat Singh by replacing the pictures of the martyr and his family members from the Primary Health Centre in his native village Khatkar Kalan with those of chief minister Bhagwant Mann.
“Only after we protested against this injustice to the martyr were the portraits replaced”. He said this was not all. “The Primary Health Center has become practically defunct with emergency services being provided by it coming to a halt after the transfer of the lone doctor manning it”.
Asserting that the AAP government was working against the ideals of Baba Saheb Ambedkar, Dr Sukhi said “the government refused to extend any reservations to scheduled castes while hiring law officers recently. When this was challenging in the high court the government submitted an affidavit that members from the SC community did not have the ability to work on the post”. He also cited a host of other discriminations meted out to the Dalit community including denial of SC Scholarship to them and halving the strength of the SC Commission.
Taking on AAP candidate Sushil Kumar Rinku, the SAD- BSP candidate said “Rinku had only one month back while addressing a meeting asked women to first ask the AAP government to release arrears due to them at the rate of Rs 1,000 per month before asking for their votes. Now I ask the AAP candidate to get his government to release Rs 12,000 each due to all women in the State before asking them for their votes”.
Dr Sukhi also exposed the AAP government for discontinuing all social welfare benefits. He said the government had given 300 units of power free of cost to people but deleted lakhs of blue cards, was not making new old age pension cards and had stopped releasing Shagun benefit to brides from weaker sections.
