The Haryana unit of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today said there was widespread resentment against the arbitrary working of the Haryana Gurdwara Committee amongst the Sikhs of the State, even as the community was feeling that their voice had been weakened following the constitution of a separate gurdwara committee for Haryana.
A meeting of the Haryana unit which was presided over by party’s veteran leader Balwinder Singh Bhunder, decided to start the process of electing the State president of the party as well as the entire organizational structure to give voice to the Sikh as well as Punjabi community of the State.
Giving details, senior leader Dr Daljit Singh Cheema said “there was widespread enthusiasm in the senior leadership of Haryana which gathered at the party headquarters to discuss ways and means to organize the party in the State”.
He said the leaders said the people of Haryana were realizing the landmark work done by the erstwhile Shiromani Gurdwara Management Committee in Haryana even as they condemned the working of the present Committee. Dr Cheema said the leaders said the Gurdwara affairs were being mismanaged even as the collective voice of the community had been weakened”.
Meanwhile Mr Balwinder Singh Bhunder assured the party’s Haryana leadership that the SAD would not only restructure the entire organization but would also come out with an action plan aimed at raising the issues of the State and its people. “We will take up all pro-people issues and work for their swift resolution”, he added.
