SAD-BSP alliance Govt to implement Kanshi Ram Pendu Vikas Scheme in 2022: Sukhbir Badal at BSP’s Jalandhar Rally

Jalandhar, October 9, 2021 (Yes Punjab News)
Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) President Sukhbir Singh Badal today announced the SAD-BSP alliance would implement the Kanshi Ram Pendu Vikas Scheme once voted to power in 2022 under which all villages with fifty per cent scheduled caste population would be given a special grant of Rs 50 lakh for development works.

The SAD President, who addressed a massive rally here to pay tribute to Babu Kanshi Ram on his fifteenth death anniversary, said this scheme would serve as a boon for the scheduled caste population as the special grant would expedite water and drainage projects besides street lights and pavements in villages. “This will be a precursor to turning these villages into model villages”, he added.

Mr Sukhbir Badal also announced that the SAD-BSP alliance was committed to establishing a district level medical college and multi specialty hospital in the memory of Babu Kanshi Ram besides a University in the Doaba region in the name of Dr B R Ambedkar.

“We are also committed to distributing five lakh houses each to the poorer sections among the scheduled caste and backward classes communities. One lakh houses will be distributed to both communities every year. We will also split the Scheduled Caste and Backward Classes department into two to ensure focused development of both the SC and BC communities”.

When queried about the alleged hunger strike of Pradesh Congress President Navjot Sidhu, the SAD President said Navjot Sidhu had not only indulged in a sham hunger strike but also insulted the memory of slain journalist Raman Kashyap by indulging in the drama at the latter’s residence. “You tell me – is it a hunger strike if one has ones full for dinner and then ends the alleged strike even before breakfast time?

It is condemnable that Sidhu indulged in this circus for the attention of the cameras and has no interest whatsoever in ensuring justice for the four farmers as well as the journalist who were killed after they were crushed under the vehicle of union minister’s son Ashish Misra. It is even more galling that Sidhu took the pretext of Ashish surrendering himself for questioning, which was on the cards since yesterday, to put an end to his sham hunger strike. The demand was for Ashish Misra’s arrest which is yet to take place”, Mr Badal added.

Mr Badal also condemned the delay in arresting Ashish Misra besides demanding the dismissal of union minister of state for home Ajay Misra who had spoiled the atmosphere in Lakhimpura Kheri by inciting violence against the peacefully protesting farmers.

Earler Mr Badal while paying tributes to Babu Kanshi Ram said the Bahujan leader had awakened the oppressed section of society across the country. He said the SAD had aligned with the BSP in 1996 and the alliance had swept the Lok Sabha polls in Punjab winning eleven out of thirteen seats. “The tone has been set to repeat this result again in 2022”, he asserted.

The rally was addressed and attended by Randhir Singh Beniwal, Jasbir Singh Garhi, Dr Daljit Singh Cheema, Gurpartap Singh Wadala, Pawan Tinu, Baldev Khaira, Jagbir Brar, Sohan Singh Thandal, Gubachan Singh Babbehali and Chandan Grewal.
