Punjab Civil Services (EB) Retd. Officers Association has condemned the illegal arrest and detention of Iqbal Singh Sandhu, PCS Retd., by the Vigilance Department, Jalandhar.
A resolution to this effect was passed at an emergency meeting of the Executive Committeee of Punjab Civil Service (EB) Retd. Officers Association held Thursday under the Chairmanship of Dr.B.S.Dhol.
The Association said, “The FIR in this case was got registered by Iqbal Singh Sandhu himself in the instant case while in service and surprisingly his name has been included in the FIR for u nknown reasons. He has been arrestedafter more than 10 years of the registration of FIR and that too after 4 years of his retirement.”
The body of retired officers also said that the prosecution sanction against Iqbal Singh Sandhu was denied twice by the competent authority.
The Association has requested the Government of Punjab to review the matter in the interest of justice and take appropriate action to withdraw the case and to ensure immediate relesae of Iqbal Singh Sandhu.
