Chandigarh, February 17, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)
Union Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh Bittu has announced that he will file a formal complaint seeking an investigation into the circumstances under which Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra allegedly asked him to meet protesting farmers during the agitation several years ago, claiming the move put his life at serious risk.

Bittu said he intends to pursue legal recourse to determine the intent behind the decision, alleging that he was sent to interact with agitating farmers despite a highly hostile environment at the time. He claimed that the situation turned violent and that he, along with MLA Kulbir Singh Zira, was physically attacked and narrowly escaped serious harm.
The Union Minister stated that he now wants authorities to examine whether there was any deliberate attempt or negligence that exposed him to danger during the protest. He also criticised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over remarks reportedly made against him, calling such statements inappropriate and questioning the basis of such allegations.
Incident Linked to Farmers’ Protest Period
The incident referred to by Bittu dates back to the period of widespread farmers’ protests, when political leaders from various parties were engaging with protestors amid heightened tensions across Punjab and other parts of the country.
Bittu’s announcement of filing a complaint has reignited political tensions between the ruling establishment and Congress leaders in Punjab, triggering sharp exchanges and escalating the ongoing political confrontation.
Further developments are expected once the formal complaint is filed and examined by authorities.
Raja Warring Rejects Allegations, Calls Charges Baseless
Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring strongly rejected Bittu’s claims and criticised him in a detailed post on social media platform X. His tweet read:
“Though strange, but not surprising that @RavneetBittu has shamelessly tried to drag Congress General Secretary Ms @priyankagandhi ji into an incident that happened with him six years ago.
It is so childish on his part to suggest that Ms Gandhi deliberately forced him to go to the farmers’ protests where, he claims, he was almost lynched.

Needless to say that these charges deserve to be dismissed with the contempt they deserve. At the same time one feels sad and pity for Bittu that what he is forced to do to be in the good books of his masters.”
Bajwa Calls Allegations ‘Headline Hunt’
Punjab Leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa also criticised Bittu’s remarks and questioned the timing of his allegations. In his post on X, Bajwa said:

“Years later,@RavneetBittu memory has made a miraculous recovery, right on cue when his political masters tighten the chokehold. Selective dementia, it seems, follows a convenient calendar.
A spent bullet of Punjab politics is now making the loudest noise, proof that when relevance runs low, even old cartridges try to echo like fresh ammunition. Dragging @priyankagandhi ji into this feels like a headline hunt. Some scripts are clearly recycled, just with a louder mic.”
Randhawa Slams Bittu, Calls Allegations ‘Manufactured Narrative’
Senior Congress leader and Member of Parliament Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa also launched a sharp attack on Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu, accusing him of reviving old allegations for political gain. In a strongly worded post on social media platform X, Randhawa questioned the timing and intent behind Bittu’s claims and alleged that the accusations were driven by political compulsions rather than facts. His tweet read:

“Years later, Ravneet Singh Bittu’s ‘sudden recollection’ resurfaces, not out of conscience, but precisely when his political masters tighten the leash. Such conveniently timed memory lapses aren’t coincidence, they are choreography.
Once reduced to irrelevance in Punjab’s political landscape, he now shouts the loudest – proof that fading stars often mistake noise for relevance. Recycling stale, unsubstantiated accusations and dressing them up as fresh revelations is not courage, it is desperation.
In his frantic bid for relevance, he now drags @priyankagandhi ji into a manufactured narrative a reckless attempt to earn applause from those who reward compliance over credibility.
Ravneet Bittu stands exposed: a habitual fabricator, a political turncoat driven by self-preservation, and a man willing to trade Punjab’s dignity for momentary patronage. His conduct is not leadership, it is opportunism masquerading as conviction.
Punjab deserves better than theatrics scripted to please Delhi and executed at the cost of truth.”
