It is a matter of grave concern that the universities, which have on them the onus of producing intellectuals, scientists and young leaders to steer the State, of Punjab are facing an acute crisis of financial nature.
These views were expressed here today by the Leader of the opposition Harpal Singh Cheema and MLA from Talwandi Sabo Prof. Baljinder Kaur in a statement released from party headquarters.
The leaders said that the resignation tendered by the Vice Chancellor of the Punjabi University recently out of frustration over the government policies, is ample proof that the State Government is not at all bothered about the well being of Educational institutions.
They also added that the Punjabi University is one of the two universities in the entire world which have been named after a language. The Punjabi University has contributed a lot towards the propagation of Punjabi language bestowed by the Guru Sahiban and even in this techno savvy era, the university is rendering yeoman’s service for the Mother Tongue.
It is indeed a matter of regret that the university, situated at the place which is the home District of Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh and represented by his wife Preneet Kaur in Parliament, is crying for attention, added Harpal Singh Cheema and Prof. Baljinder Kaur.
Both the leaders also revealed that First the Akalis and now Congress are afraid that if the university continues its painstaking efforts in the academic sphere then it would lead to further awareness and enlightening amongst the educated youth who would then question both SAD and the Congress to account for the leading Punjab towards ruin. That explains why both these parties enjoying power by rotation have caused the august institution to fail.
The AAP leaders demanded from the Governor of Punjab and the Chancellor of the Punjabi University to intervene in the matter and rid the institution of great repute of its financial woes since.
They further said that the Aam Aadmi Party would not let the nefarious policies to succeed which are aimed at the total ruin of the educational institutions of Punjab and would undertake every effort to save these centres of learning and excellence.
