Chandigarh, Feb 1,2020 (Yes Punjab News)

The Mansa Police has registered a case against Punjabi singers Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu known as Sidhu Moose Wala and Mankirat Aulakh for propagating violence through a video clip uploaded on social media.

Disclosing this here today a SSP Mansa, Narender Bhargav, said that a FIR (No 35) was registered at Sadar Police Station Mansa u/s 294 (sings, recites or utters any obscene song), 504(intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) and 149(unlawful assembly) against the duo last night. A complaint had been filed in this regard.

Bhargav said that preliminary inquires had revealed that that clip/song was recorded at village Mussa distt Mansa at the residence of Moosewala by him and his associates. Subsequently, the clip of the song was uploaded on You Tube, Tik Tok, Facebook and other social media sites. The song was found to propagate cult of violence and gun culture.

Bhargav said, Moosewala’s song, , ‘Pakhia pakhia pakhia, gun wich panj golia…’(Pakhia Pakhia Pakhia there are five bullets in the gun… ) evidentially propagates violence and gun culture. He said further investigation are on.

Only yesterday, Punjab Chief Minister, Capt. Amarinder Singh had expressed deep concern over propagation of violence and gun culture in Punjabi songs. The Chief Minister had reiterated his Government’s firm commitment not to show any sort of complacency towards such singers, who are alluring innocent youths to tread on the path of violence and hooliganism.

It may be recalled that the Punjab and Haryana High Court in Civil Writ Petition 6213/2016 had already directed the DGPs of Punjab, Haryana and Union Territory, Chandigarh to ensure that no songs are played glorifying the liquor, drugs and violence in any song even in the live shows. The Court further directed that District Magistrates/SSPs of each district would be personally responsible for strict compliance of these directions.
