Punjab Vigilance nabs Audit Inspector red handed for taking bribe

State Vigilance Bureau today nabbed an Audit Inspector, Cooperative Societies, Harbhinder Singh posted at Ferozepur red handed for accepting bribe of Rs.6,000.

Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of Vigilance Bureau Punjab said accused Harbhinder Singh was caught red handed on the complaint of Sukhdev Singh, a salesperson posted at Primary Agricultural Cooperative Society, Mahantan Wala, Ferozepur district.

Giving details he said the complainant has approached the VB and alleged that Audit Inspector was demanding Rs. 10,000 from him for mentioning good remarks in the audit report of society but the deal was struck at Rs. 6,000/-.

After verifying his complaint the VB team laid a trap and the accused Audit Inspector was caught red handed and Rs. 6,000 tainted money recovered from him in the presence of two official witnesses. He informed that a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against both the accused at VB police station Ferozepur and further investigation was under progress.
