Punjab Traders Commission is holding district-level meetings across the state to directly listen to the problems of traders, shopkeepers and small business owners, and ensure quick resolution through on-the-spot coordination with concerned departments.
On Wednesday meetings were held in Sri Muktsar Sahib, Hoshiarpur, Jalandhar, Kapurthala, S.B.S Nagar, Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Pathankot and Tarn Taran. These meetings are being conducted in the presence of members of the Traders Commission, local MLAs, and officers from concerned departments, ensuring that issues are addressed with accountability and coordination.
Punjab Finance Minister and senior Aam Aadmi Party leader Harpal Singh Cheema said the Punjab Traders Commission is not merely holding formal meetings, but is functioning as a practical platform where the problems of traders are being listened to seriously and, in most cases, resolved on the spot. He added that where a request cannot be addressed immediately, it is being conveyed to the concerned departments with proper follow-up.
“The aim is simple, small shopkeepers and traders should not be forced to waste an entire working day running behind offices for routine matters. These district meetings are saving them time, effort and unnecessary harassment,” said Cheema.
“This is the Mann Government’s model of governance, listening to people, resolving problems quickly, and ensuring that if a matter requires departmental action, it reaches the right officer without the trader having to run pillar to post,” he said.
The Finance Minister added that Punjab’s trading community plays a vital role in the state’s economy and deserves a government mechanism that respects their time and supports their work, rather than burdening them with red-tapism.
Cheema said the consultations will continue in more districts in the coming days as the Punjab Traders Commission has become a strong, effective bridge between the trading community and the government, delivering real relief on the ground.
