Punjab to celebrate ‘Poshan Maah’ from 1st to 30th September: Dr. Baljit Kaur

Chandigarh, August 31, 2024 (Yes Punjab News)

Under the able leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and the guidance of Minister of Social Security, Women and Child Development Dr. Baljit Kaur, the department is celebrating September as Poshan Maah. During this period, a campaign to plant ‘one tree in the name of your mother’ will be launched across the state.

Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur stated that, inspired by the Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the theme of making the state a green paradise—through the planting of a tree named after one’s mother—has been chosen as the central focus for Poshan Maah.

Dr. Baljit Kaur emphasized that environmental pollution is a major challenge facing humanity today, and it threatens the security of our beautiful planet and the future of the human race. Therefore, it is crucial to plant more trees.

However, trees should not only be planted but also nurtured. This campaign is part of the Punjab Government’s ongoing efforts to protect the environment. It is noteworthy that Poshan Maah will be celebrated from September 1st to September 30th across the state.

Minister explained that the campaign to plant a sapling in the name of one’s mother has been initiated to foster an emotional connection between the planter and the sapling, ensuring that the saplings are not forgotten after planting, but are nurtured to grow into large trees that sustain life.

She invited every family to join this campaign and expressed confidence that with public participation, the initiative will be a success.

Cabinet Minister also noted that this campaign is not just a Government initiative, but a movement that seeks to involve the people. Staff from the Women and Child Development Department, including Anganwadi workers, helpers, supervisors, and CDPOs, along with NGOs, Asha workers, ANMs, agricultural societies, cooperatives societies, self-help groups, youth clubs, and others, will be working together to make this initiative successful.

Minister added that, in addition to this campaign, efforts will also focus on raising awareness about anemia, proper hygiene, the importance of exercise, and environmental conservation, as well as the value of a healthy and nutritious diet.
