Punjab Promotes One IPS Officer to ADGP Rank; Two Names Kept in Sealed Cover

Chandigarh, December 31, 2025 (Yes Punjab News)

The Government of Punjab, Department of Home Affairs (Home-I Branch), has ordered the promotion of an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer to the rank of Additional Director General of Police (ADGP). The promotion, in Level-15 of the Pay Matrix, will take effect from January 1, 2026, as per an official order issued by the Governor of Punjab.

Sealed Cover Cases

Based on the recommendations of the Screening Committee, the names of the following two IPS officers have been kept in sealed cover due to the pendency of criminal and/or disciplinary proceedings:

Gautam Cheema, IPS (RR:1995)

Paramraj Singh Umranangal, IPS (SPS:1995)

As per the order, the sealed cover will be opened only after the finalisation of the pending criminal or disciplinary proceedings against the officers concerned.

The promotion order has been issued with the approval of the competent authority and was signed by Alok Shekhar, Additional Chief Secretary to the Government of Punjab, Department of Home Affairs, on December 31, 2025. Copies of the order have been forwarded to the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Punjab Chief Minister’s Office, the Director General of Police, Punjab, and other concerned authorities for information and necessary action.
