Punjab Police conducted 594 raids across the state on Tuesday as part of the ongoing ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ campaign, arresting 249 individuals and taking preventive action against 182 others on the operation’s 252nd day.
Police teams also seized six weapons and arrested four proclaimed offenders (POs) during the statewide operation, which targeted identified locations linked to associates of gangsters.
According to Punjab Police, the ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ campaign was launched by Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav on January 20, 2026, with the objective of making the state gangster-free. Police teams from all districts are conducting coordinated operations in collaboration with the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Punjab.
With the latest arrests, the total number of individuals arrested under the campaign has reached 74,734 since its launch.
Punjab Police has also urged people to share information about wanted criminals, gangsters and suspected criminal activities through its Anti-Gangster Helpline at 93946-93946. The helpline allows callers to provide information anonymously.
Meanwhile, the police continued their anti-drug campaign, ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’, which entered its 577th day on Tuesday. During the day, 110 alleged drug smugglers were arrested, and police recovered 10.2 kg of heroin, 500 grams of opium, 4 kg of ganja, 19 kg of poppy husk, 543 intoxicant pills and Rs 4 lakh in drug money.
The total number of drug smugglers arrested under ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ has now reached 80,763 since the campaign began.
As part of its de-addiction and rehabilitation efforts, Punjab Police also persuaded 22 individuals to undergo treatment on Tuesday.
