Punjab needs services at nominal rates rather than freebies: Parminder Dhindsa

Chandigarh, January 4, 2022 (Yes Punjab News)
While coming down heavily at the political parties for making bogus announcements ahead of Assembly Elections, Senior Leader of Shiromani Akali Dal (Sanyukt), MLA and former Finance Minister, Mr. Parminder Singh Dhindsa said that this is really unfortunate to see that despite dire economic circumstances of the State, these political parties are busy making fake announcements.

Strongly condemning, the recent announcements made by Punjab Congress President Mr. Navjot Singh Sidhu after Aam Aadmi Party, regarding giving political gains in the name of empowerment of housewives and girls of the state, Mr. Parminder Singh Dhindsa said that all such announcements made by either AAP or Sidhu are mere election stunt and holds no reality.

“People of Punjab are not beggars, rather they are hardworking and self-reliant,” added Mr. Parminder Singh Dhindsa.

He said that rather than making these bogus announcements, the government should focus on providing ample employment opportunities to provide young boys and girls of Punjab.

“People of Punjab should get facilities at cheaper rates instead of freebies so that the State could moves forward on actual development track. Political parties should provide employment instead making bogus and luring promises, said Mr. Dhindsa.

The former Finance Minister said that there is an urgent need to devise a better strategy to improve the economy of Punjab and make the people of Punjab self-reliant. He said that the present economic condition of Punjab is such that the resources of the state are very limited and such bogus and luring declarations that are being made for political gain alone could not be implemented.

“Therefore, people of Punjab should focus on plans to make Punjab self-reliant instead of being deceived by Congress and Aam Aadmi Party. Political parties should refrain from making such announcements as these should only be made to help the economically weaker sections,” added Mr. Dhindsa.

While again expressing concern over the dire economic condition of Punjab which had reached a new low point, the former Finance Minister said that at present the financial condition of Punjab is worrisome as the debt figures of the state have increased manifolds along with the downturn in the economy and fiscal deficit of the state has also reached an all-time high.

“The ruling Congress and the Opposition parties are relentlessly announcing populist promises and announcements just to gain political mileage in the run-up to the elections, the consequences of which could be dire and the people of Punjab could pay a heavy price for such bogus promises,” asserted Mr. Dhindsa.

He said that the issues and problems in Punjab are the same as they were in 2017. All the promises made by the Congress government to the people of the state are still unfulfilled, he added.

Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party are constantly trying to befool and lure the innocent people of the State with their fake announcements and promises,” said Mr. Dhindsa.
