Punjab Minister Channi expresses grief on death of famous Dhadi & Folk Singer Idu Sharif

Famous Dhadhi Folk Singer Idu Sharif, who was battling paralysis, passed away today at Manimajra in Chandigarh. The Tourism and Cultural Affairs Minister, Punjab, Mr. Charanjit Singh Channi has expressed grief and shared heartfelt condolences with family of the departed soul.

The Minister said that he is deeply saddened by the news of the loss of the Shiromani Dhadhi Folk Singer Idu Sharif. He said that with the passing away of Idu Sharif an era in Dhadi Folk lore has ended. The role played by Idu Sharif in keeping alive and promoting Dhadi Folk singing would always remain a golden chapter in the history of dhadi folk singing.

Idu Sharif, received coveted Sangeet Natak Academi and other awards at state and national level during his life time.

Mr. Channi prayed to god to grant eternal peace and strength to the family during this difficult time to bear this irreparable loss.

Dr. Surjit Patar Chairman Punjab Kala Parishad has also has condoled the death of eminent Punjabi Folk Dhadi Singer Idu Sharif. In his condolence message, he said that this is a grievous loss not only for his family, but also for lovers of Punjabi folk music all over the world.
