New Delhi, August 8, 2025 (Yes Punjab News) –
J. Elanchezhian, an IPS officer from the 2010 batch, has been appointed as the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on deputation.
Currently serving as the Director of the Vigilance Bureau in Punjab, Elanchezhian’s induction into the CBI has been approved by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) for an initial period of five years, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
The Union Government has directed the Punjab State Government to relieve Elanchezhian within three weeks of receiving the official letter, to allow him to take charge of his new role at the Centre.
With this induction, Elanchezhian becomes the 19th IPS officer from Punjab to be assigned to central deputation, and notably, the first to join the CBI, as there are currently no IPS officers from Punjab representing the premier investigative agency.
