Sri Guru Ram Das Institute of Medical Sciences & Research, Sri Amritsar in collaboration with the Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti (BMVSS), Jaipur, Rajasthan, has inaugurated the Jaipur Foot Camp at Jaipur Foot Centre, Sri Amritsar. The event was graced by the presence of the Chief Guest Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, Hon’ble Governor of Punjab.
Shri Gulab Chand Kataria emphasized that providing prosthetic limbs to needy patient with disabilities transcends mere charity, it represents a profound commitment to restoring dignity and enhancing the quality of life for those facing physical challenges. He highlighted that last year, Jaipur Foot Centre was started by Sri Guru Ram Das Medical College at the institution, which is the only such centre in Punjab, where prosthetic limbs, callipers and other aids and appliances of the world-famous Jaipur Foot Company are provided free of cost to the disabled. Expressing his pride, he announced that the newly launched Jaipur Foot Camp will ensure that these essential aids are now available at no cost to all categories of disabled patient forever. He also pledged the government’s steadfast support for this initiative aimed at improving the lives of the disabled community.
Padma Bhushan Shri D.R. Mehta, Founder & Chief Patron, Bhagwan Mahavir Viklang Sahayati Samiti (BMVSS), Jaipur expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the launch of Jaipur Foot Camp at the institution and commended the leadership of SGRD Medical College for this initiative and to present the cheque of Rs. 10 lakhs to BMVSS by S. Rajinder Singh Mehta, Member, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Sri Amritsar for the treatment of disabled patients. He said that Jaipur Foot Camp would prove to be a boon for those who were unable to get their treatment due to their financial constraints. He requested everyone to spread the free assistance provided to the disabled at the institution, so that the disabled living in different parts of the country can take maximum benefit from it.
Dr. A.P. Singh, Dean, S.R.R.D. University of Health Sciences, Sri Amritsar said that more than 200 disabled persons were provided with wheelchairs, crutches & artificial legs, arms & hands in this special camp dedicated to providing state-of-the-art prosthetic limbs. He expressed happiness and said that since the inception of Jaipur Foot Centre, the institution has helped more than 800 disabled persons to change their lives by providing free facilities. Dr. Singh proudly stated that this free facility will continue to extend its support to disabled persons nationwide, with a particular emphasis on serving the patients in Punjab through Jaipur Foot Camp forever.
