Punjab Govt should immediately pass resolution against anti-farmer bills: AAP

Chandigarh, September 30, 2020 (Yes Punjab News)

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab senior leader and Kotkapura MLA Kultar Singh Sandhwan, while reacting to the statement of Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh to convene a special session of Punjab Vidhan Sabha, said the people of Punjab, especially the farmers, were passing through a grave crisis in view of the controversial Bill being forces in the state, which clearly showed the mighty corporate houses were eying the golden land of Punjab.

In a statement issued from party headquarters in Chandigarh here on Wednesday, Kultar Singh Sandhwan said that the black anti-farmer Bill being imposed by the Modi government in grave violation of the federal structure of the country, was aimed at ruining the farmers.

He added that if the Punjab government had an iota of sympathy for the beleaguered farmers, it should immediately convene a special session of Vidhan Sabha and adopt a resolution against the contentious Bills imposed by the Modi government on the lines of other states like Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand etc.

He added that there should be a blanket ban on the purchase of land by individuals or companies from outside Punjab, saying “A resolution should also be passed that if an outside company sets up an industrial unit in the state of Punjab, seeking prior approval from the state Government should be made mandatory. A resolution should also be passed to review the lands purchased by certain corporate houses earlier.

The AAP leader said the Punjab Government should also pass a resolution during the special session, necessitating that if an individual or a company purchased or procured goods at a rate below the MSP, a criminal case be registered against them.

Sandhwan on the occasion said Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh and Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal must tell the people and their elected representatives at the special session that they were not present during the drafting of the three anti-farmer Bills imposed by the Union Government. And, if they were not actually present at that point in time, then the House should send a privilege motion against the Central Government.

Sandhwan appealed to all political parties to rise above their political affiliations this hour of crisis and take up the cause of the farmers and support the aforesaid resolutions at the specially convened session and pass them unanimously.
